Your First Brazilian: An Honest, Unscary Guide
Everything no one told me before mine — what to wear, what to say, what to feel, and the small habits that turn a 20-minute appointment into something you look forward to.
Most of the fear around a first Brazilian isn't about pain. It's about not knowing what to expect. So here, simply, is everything I wish someone had told me.
Before you come in Let the hair grow to roughly the length of a grain of rice (about 7–10 days after shaving). Exfoliate gently the day before — never the same morning. Skip caffeine in the hour before your appointment; it makes the skin more reactive. Wear something loose and breathable home.
When you arrive You'll be shown straight into a private suite. You change in privacy, with a fresh towel and robe, and your technician knocks before entering. We talk first — about your cycle, your skin, your sensitivity, any medications. Nothing about this conversation is awkward for us; it is the most ordinary part of our day.
During the wax You stay covered the entire time except for the small section being worked on. Your technician will guide your hand for positioning — yes, you'll help hold the skin in places, and yes, it feels surprisingly normal within sixty seconds. We work in short sections, breathe out together on the pull, and apply pressure immediately. Most guests are genuinely surprised at how little it hurts after the first two pulls.
Afterwards A little pinkness for an hour or two is normal. No hot showers, no gym, no sun, no tight synthetic clothing for 24 hours. After that, exfoliate twice a week and moisturise daily — that's how you avoid ingrowns and keep the skin glassy between visits.
The part no one warns you about You will probably leave feeling unexpectedly **calm**. Something about being looked after with that much intention — in a quiet room, by someone who knows exactly what they're doing — resets the day. That, more than the smoothness, is what brings our guests back every four weeks.
It is allowed to enjoy this. It was always supposed to feel this way.
